Marble Columns

Using acrylic paints to begin with to create a rapid 'clouded undercoat'. The subsequence layers were refined using an acrylic glaze medium working up the transparency and detail of the veins. This was then finished with a wax varnish to achieve a subtle polished surface. Marbling is a technique that always benefits from the extra time you can give it; the additional layers, in acrylic or oil paints, add a touch of depth and realism to the illusion.
